Product description
Firebird (FirebirdSQL) - compact, cross-platform, free database management system (RDBMS) that runs on GNU / Linux, Microsoft Windows, and a variety of Unix platforms.
As the advantages of Firebird can be noted multi-version architecture that enables parallel processing of operational and analytical queries (which is possible because users do not block reading writing), compactness (the distribution 5Mb), high efficiency and powerful language support for stored procedures and triggers. Firebird is used in various industrial applications since 2001. It is a commercially independent project of C and C ++ programmers, technical advisors and developers of multi-platform database management system based on source code released by Borland Corporation July 25, 2000 as a free version of Interbase 6.0.
Among the shortcomings including lack of cache query results, fulltext indexes for full-text search.
Firebird is a database server. One Firebird server can handle multiple independent databases, each with a plurality of user connections. And, importantly, it is completely free of license fees even for commercial use.
